Statement from Senator Ellis on the 16th Conference of Parties

Texas State Senator Rodney Ellis is in attendance at the 16th Conference of Parties in Cancun, Mexico. He releases the following statement:

"Houston is the energy capitol of the world, so naturally many Houstonians will have a vested interest in what is discussed and decided at the event. What better place than here to help develop beneficial and sound energy policy that will help to protect both the environment and Texans' pocketbooks.

The overarching goal for all attendees is to develop international energy policy that is aimed at avoiding dangerous human interference with the world's climate, and I share that objective.

While expectations for this year's conference are somewhat reduced compared to last year's, I hope that the delegates can continue to work towards a more comprehensive agreement to be finalized at next year's conference in South Africa."
