Senator Ellis Lauds Passage of Health Care bill by US Senate Finance Committee
"I am optimistic now that the Senate Finance Committee has passed a comprehensive health care reform bill. The members on the committee should be commended for their diligence and commitment to passing a bill on an issue that has been so hotly debated. For the 46 million Americans living without health insurance this is the first major hurdle on the road to quality affordable health care.
And although I am hopeful, we must also tread carefully because the bill that ultimately passes may look very different than the bill that passed out of the committee. Those of us who want to ensure that the 6 million uninsured Texans have access to affordable health insurance need to continue to urge our representatives in Washington DC to continue fighting for that opportunity, whether it comes in the form of a public option or otherwise."
