SENATOR NELSON COMMENTS ON TRANSPORTATION APPOINTMENTS
GRAPEVINE -- Senator Jane Nelson, R-Flower Mound, today commented on two key appointments to the Texas Transportation Commission, including one of her constituents, Bill Meadows of Fort Worth, as well as Governor Rick Perry's former chief of staff, Dierdre Delisi of Austin.
"I appreciate Governor Perry for appointing a North Texan to the Transportation Commission," she said. "As the state's most populated metro area, we have enormous needs that are critical not just to our region -- but the entire state, mainly because our growth is driving the state economy. Mobility is not just a convenience issue in our region. It affects our air quality, our economy, emergency responders, and the ability of our citizens to access health care. I look forward to working with Mr. Meadows, Ms. Delisi, and all of the members of the Commission to advance our transportation priorities."
Ms. Delisi served as chief of staff and deputy chief of staff to Gov. Perry, and served as special assistant to then-Lt. Gov. Perry. Additionally, she is a former policy advisor to the presidential campaigns of Lamar Alexander and George W. Bush, and served at the Texas Department of Commerce and as legislative aide for Texas Senator Bill Ratliff.
Meadows is chairman of Hub International Rigg. He is vice chairman of the North Texas Tollway Authority, and a trustee of the Hatton W. Sumners Foundation. He is also a past appointee to the Texas Water Development Board and formerly served as a city council member and mayor pro-tempore for the City of Fort Worth. Additionally, Meadows is past vice chairman of the City of Fort Worth Parks and Community Services Advisory Board, and past board member of the Fort Worth Chamber of Commerce and Southwestern University.
SENATOR JANE NELSON represents District 12, which includes parts of Tarrant and Denton counties. She is Chairman of the Senate Health & Human Services Committee.
