State Sen. Tommy Williams welcomes Jefferson County constituents to Austin
AUSTIN -- State Sen. Tommy Williams, R-The Woodlands, will welcome the residents of Jefferson County to Austin on Sunday, February 13, through Tuesday, February 15, along with Reps. Allan Ritter, R-Nederland, and Joe D. Deshotel, D-Port Arthur.
"It is always a pleasure to have the hard-working residents of Jefferson County come and see their state government at work," Williams said. "Jefferson County Days at the capitol are more than just a good time. The days help us put a face on the issues we bring to the Legislature."
Jefferson County leaders who continually come together for the benefit of the county as a whole will also be recognized during this very important event. They are Rick Williams, Chairman of the Jefferson County Chambers of Commerce Legislative Response Team; Joe Domino, Chairman of the Greater Beaumont Chamber of Commerce; Gene Venable, Chairman of the Groves Chamber of Commerce; Wendell Meaux, Chairman of the Nederland Chamber of Commerce; and Donald Pumphrey, Chairman of the Greater Port Arthur Chamber of Commerce.
Jefferson County Days in Austin will begin Sunday, February 13, with a golf tournament and continue through Tuesday, February 15, when the Jefferson County delegation will be honored on both the State Senate and House floors. The day's events will come to a close with the Beaumont Legislative Dinner at The University Club. The dinner is hosted by the Greater Beaumont Chamber of Commerce. Reservations can be made with the Chamber.
First elected in 1996 to the Texas House of Representatives, Tommy Williams was later elected to the Senate in 2002 and re-elected in 2004. He represents Senate District 4 that includes all or portions of Montgomery, Harris, Liberty, Chambers, Jefferson and Orange counties.
