AUSTIN -- State Sen. Tommy Williams, R-The Woodlands, will welcome the residents of Orange County, Texas to Austin on Monday, January 31, along with Rep. Mike "Tuffy" Hamilton, R-Mauriceville, and Rep. Joe D. Deshotel, D-Port Arthur.
Orange County Day is a long-running tradition that brings a large group of Orange County residents to the State Capitol to meet and honor the legislative members and staff.
"Members of the Legislature and their staff look forward to Orange County Day each session," Williams said. "It's more than just a great time. Orange County Day helps our delegation put a face on the issues we bring to the Legislature."
The who's who of Orange County leaders and elected officials will also attend this very important event. Orange Mayor William Claybar, West Orange Mayor Roy McDonald, Vidor Mayor Joe Hopkins, Bridge City Mayor Bobbie Burgess, Pinehurst Mayor Jerry Hussey, Orange County Judge Carl Thibodeaux and Sabine River Authority General Manager Jerry Clark will all be honored during the day's events.
Following the busy day, Orange County residents are invited to meet at 6:30 p.m. at Scholz Garten, located at 1607 San Jacinto Boulevard near the 16th street intersection, for an evening of food and fun. Williams and his staff look forward to seeing you there.
