Senator Glenn Hegar Passes Legislation
AUSTIN, TEXAS -- Senator Glenn Hegar passed his first bill today in the Texas Senate. Senate Bill 580, relating to the manner of recording documents filed with a county clerk, was placed on the Local and Uncontested Calendar and passed to engrossment with 30 ayes and no nays.
More specifically, SB 580 helps move county government into the 21st century by allowing county clerks to accept electronic documents and stamp recording information on the first page. Additionally, SB 580 allows for county clerks to operate more efficiently and effectively, as well as saves tax payers dollars.
Senator Hegar previously served two terms in the Texas House of Representatives and now serves as a freshman Senator for Senate District 18. Senator Hegar is a 6th generation Texan, and earns a living farming rice and corn on land that has been in his family since the mid 1800s. He currently resides in Katy, Texas with his wife Dara and daughter Claire.
