(Houston, TX) - Senator Ellis will be joined by Representatives Rick Noriega, Ellen Cohen, Garnet Coleman, Dora Olivo, Senfronia Thompson, and other legislators at a press conference to kick-off the Back to School Sales Tax Holiday, which will run from August 15th - August 17th. Also joining the legislators are students from the Quillian Center's Summer Camp Program.
Senator Ellis passed the bill creating the Sales Tax Holiday in 1999. Since then, Texans have saved nearly 388.1 million dollars. During the 2007 sales tax holiday alone, Texans saved 52.1 million dollars.
