Senator Ellis, health care coalition to hold press conference on statewide smoking ban

AUSTIN -- Senator Rodney Ellis (D-Houston) and a Texas health care coalition will hold a press conference on legislation to institute a statewide smoking ban in public places, on Wednesday, January 31, 2007, at 10:00 a.m. in the Lieutenant Governor's Press Room.

The press conference will focus on legislation by Ellis which mandates public places in Texas - including restaurants, bars and workplaces - be smoke-free. According to a statewide poll to be released at the press conference Texans overwhelmingly want a smoking ban in public places in Texas.

Noted pollster Mike Baselice will discuss the results of a recent statewide poll on the issue.
