Reverend Jesse Jackson in Austin to give eulogy for Hazel Obey

When:		Friday, January 6, 12:00 p.m.

The Reverend Jesse Jackson will be in Austin on Thursday, January 5 and Friday, January 6 for the funeral of Hazel Falke-Obey. Reverend Jackson will be giving the eulogy for Hazel Obey. The two had been long time friends and Reverend Jackson has been kind enough to agree to give the eulogy.

 

Hazel Falke-Obey was a prominent political and civil rights pioneer in the African American community in Austin. Hazel was instrumental in helping ease the transition of school desegregation in Austin. Hazel was also prominent in national politics, serving on the Democratic National Committee for 18 years.
