Town Hall Meeting in Houston

Houston, TX -- Senator Rodney Ellis (Houston) and Representative Scott Hochberg will host a Town Hall meeting in Houston to discuss higher education issues. The town hall meeting will be held Monday, April 12, 2004, 6:30 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. at Collins Elementary School. Collins Elementary School is located at 9829 Town Park Drive, near Beltway 8 and Bellaire Blvd.

The challenges facing higher education and access to institutions of higher learning in the state of Texas strongly affect and concern members of our community. At this meeting, elected officials, higher education experts and policymakers will inform community members about TEXAS Grants, increased college tuition, new university admissions policies and other issues affecting higher education policy in Texas.

Texas Higher Education Commissioner Don Brown, Representatives Garnet Coleman, Rick Noriega, University of Houston Law Professor Michael Olivas, Thurgood Marshall Law Professor John Brittain, University of Houston student body President Jon Quintanilla, and others will be part of a panel discussion.
