Senator Ellis Named Chair Of New Committee
Austin, TX - Senator Rodney Ellis (D-Houston) was appointed as Chairman of the Texas Senate's Government Organization Committee. That committee will be charged with examining the organization and efficiency of Texas state government. This committee's goals will be especially important in a session in which budgetary concerns will be such a major focus.
"I look forward to working on the issues that will be brought before the Government Organization Committee," said Senator Ellis. "We will have many tough choices to make this session, and I am fortunate to be in a position to look out for the best interests of Senate District 13, Houston and the State of Texas."
Senator Ellis will also serve as a member of three additional Senate Committees: the State Affairs, Criminal Justice, and Infrastructure Development and Security Committees.
Senator Ellis has served in the Texas Senate since 1990. He has chaired several committees over his tenure in the Texas Senate, including the Jurisprudence and most recently, the Senate Finance Committee.
