Senator Ellis Receives Houston Metropolitan Study Award
Houston, TX- Today, Senator Rodney Ellis recieved the Houston Metropolitan Award. The awards ceremony breakfast was sponsored by the Galleria Chamber of Commerce and TXU Energy and was attended by over 200 business and community leaders.
The Houston Metropolitan Award is presented annually to a select group of citizens "who embody the best qualities of Houston and have made a substantial contribution to it." The award is presented by the Houston Metropolitan Study, a collaborative effort between Rice University and the University of Houston to research, analyze and disseminate information on the major issues affecting Houston's global competitiveness in the 21st Century.
"It is a great honor to be recognized by such a distinguished group," said Senator Ellis.
In addition to Senator Ellis, honorees this year included Chase Untermeyer, Cheryl Thompson-Draper, and (posthumously) Oveta Culp Hobby.
Senator Ellis thanks the audience after being honored with the Houston Metropolitan Award.
