Statement of Senator Ellis On State Comptroller's Revenue Estimates

Austin -- Senate Finance Chairman Rodney Ellis' (D-Houston) comments on revenue estimates announced today by Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts Carole Keeton Rylander.

"Comptroller Rylander's estimates show that the Texas economy is still running strong. We can pay our bills and meet the basic needs of Texas. But, with a smaller projected budget surplus than in recent years, it is our responsibility to make the correct priorities that will ensure Texas will meet the challenges of the 21st Century. We must decide which investments can be made that will benefit our state for years to come."
