Statement from Senator Seliger on the Filing of Redistricting Bills

AUSTIN—Senator Kel Seliger filed three bills yesterday that will serve as the starting point for the 82nd Legislature to redraw State Senate, State Board of Education, and congressional district lines based on population data from the 2010 Census.

"These are bills that will be referred to committee to be substituted when we get the final population numbers from the U.S. Census Bureau."

Senate Bill 31 – Relating to the composition of the districts for the election of members of the Texas Senate.

Senate Bill 307 – Relating to the composition of the districts for the election of members of the State Board of Education.

Senate Bill 308 – Relating to the composition of the congressional districts for the State of Texas.
